Stem Cells Could Cure Deafness
Stem cell researchers have made a breakthrough they believe could someday cure deafness, the Times of London reports. The British team, working with stem cells from the inner ear, have successfully grown early versions of the cells that enable hearing and now aim to create functional cells that can be transplanted into the inner ear to reverse hearing loss. Researchers say a cure for total hearing loss is still at least a decade away, but believe their work can be used immediately to test new drugs and probe the causes of deafness. "This research is incredibly promising and opens up exciting possibilities by bringing us closer to restoring hearing in the future,” said a research director at the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.

My Hand Surgery
I'm home.. Of course, my surgery this morning was a minor surgery & I was an out-patient.. The operation was about less than an hour.. Around 8minutes for the preparation before the procedure itself.. Then it only took around 20minutes for my doctor to cut & remove the huge tumor.. Then about 10minutes to stitch my hand.. Haha! I kinda took a mental note of the time because there's a clock on the wall.. My head & eyes keep on switching glances from the wall clock, to the ceiling & to my hand.. Yes, I got to see it.. I saw my open-bloody hand being operated.. When Dr. Lopez told us that my right hand needs to be operated, my question is: "can I look?"Tuesday, March 24, 2009
My Hand Operation
I'll have my most awaited operation on Thursday, March 26, 6:30am at Medical City.. I really want it to be done soon so that I could get back to my therapies & I could enjoy the summer.. Hehe.
It's just minor & it's benign.. Though it'll be biopsied to be sure.. So please pray for me.. It'll me my 11th operation-scar.. Haha! :P
