KCAT CAN: A little sacrifice

"And whenever you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. I tell you with certainty, they have their full reward!”
–Matthew 6:5

A little sacrifice

It was Holy Week of 2006, everything dawned on me — that I was so sick, that I could not move freely that I was so weak. My eyes were so blurry; I could not chew and swallow my food properly. I was already completely deaf.

Awesome February

February is the LOVE month & I'm in-love.. In-love with LIFE!

Sabi ko nga:
"Valentine's Day is not limited to romantic love. Not being in a romantic relationship does not mean one is loveless. Love is everywhere, love is free. It is a God-given blessing for us to give as well as receive." (KCAT CAN column, 2-14-2011)

And I am so blessed with super lovable people that makes my life sooooo AWESOME!

KCAT CAN: Orphaned

Orphaned
by Maria Kathrina Lopez Yarza
February 20, 2012

Growing up, I had been misdiagnosed with different disorders and diseases — sebaceous cysts, severe migraine, Bell’s palsy, polio, scoliosis, myasthenia gravis, etc.

It was when I was 22 years old in 2004 when we learned that all my other previous medical conditions were related to one another, and Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) is what my disorder is called.

KCAT CAN: Random

The topic of this column was inspired by the randomness of my gorgeous frootie college friends.. :P

Life is varied, colorful, and full of surprises. How we wish that it would always be as sweet as honey, for ourselves and for our loved ones; but well, it will never be like that. Nonetheless, no matter how spicysaltysour, or bitter life may taste, it is always good to remember that your existence matters, so better get moving and move forward with your life. Go Go Go!

I went out with my college friends to welcome Gemma who is based in Dubai and whom we have not seen for six years. We exchanged lots of stories and laughed our hearts out, and then went to a bar to hang out.

KCAT CAN: I'm one happy Pinoy

Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solution's Search for Happiest Pinoy is back!

I'm one happy Pinoy

According to the 2009 Happy Planet Index published by the New Economics Foundation, the Philippines is the 14th happiest country in the world.

Filipinos are indeed a happy, happy people. The country has encountered a lot of tragedies in the past, from earthquakes to storms and floods, Filipinos have always remained strong-hearted. Poverty has also been a major problem of the country. A lot of people are jobless, we see families living on the streets, children asking for alms. Yet, we tend to find happiness in our surroundings. Even in difficulties, most of us could find a thing or two to laugh about.

KCAT CAN: A Colorful 2012 for us

Let's have a happy, positive & COLORFUL 2012! It all depends on the choices we'll make, so choose wisely. Choose COLORFUL.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LOR D, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11

Every hour, every minute, and every second of each day, we are faced with a variety of choices to make — what do, where to go, who to spend time with, what to eat, what to buy, how to act, and so on.

KCAT CAN: My brightest star

On December 25, we'll be celebrating the birth of our Brightest Star, our savior, Jesus Christ. Even though it's children's (picture) book, it inspired me to write this article.

My Brightest Star

Christmas is a time of celebration, a season of enjoying sumptuous meals and special treats with family and friends. But in the midst of merriment, let us not forget the star atop the Christmas tree, and the real reason why we celebrate Christmas: Jesus Christ. With Him as our star, we can definitely move forward and twinkle brightly.

This reflection was in my thoughts after reading the book “Brightest,’’ published by Isshin Dream Publishing. A picture book for children and adults as well, “Brightest’’ imparts a deep message that tugs at the heartstrings.

KCAT CAN: One fine friendship

Friends through thick & thin; thick because Teresa is on the chubby side, and thin because my Madge is so skinny. Hahaha. Teresa is Madge's salbabida, while Madge is Teresa's panungkit. LOL. Anyway, just read my column.

Whenever Madge introduces me to her old friend from her grade school or high school days, her first line would always be, “She was my best friend in…” I would often tease her that each one of her classmates had become her best friend and we would both laugh.

But there was one person who is best among the rest; she’s Teresa Rivera whom she is friends with since grade school, up until now that they have grandchildren.

CDO Bloggers:Project Cadayunan Primary School

the Cagayan De Oro Bloggers will hold an outreach program in the newly opened public primary school in Besigan. Cadayunan Primary School is 52 kilometers away from the city proper and most of the people in the area are farmers with no regular transportation except dump trucks provided by the city government to help the people transport their farm products. Before it the school was operational, the cildren used to walk 12 kilometers to and fro everyday to reach the nearest school. This resulted to in-attendance; most of them was skipping school and eventually stopped going to school.
